Yumba
Richard Ngombe Yumba (24) was born in Congo, but he came to Norway (Sogndal) in November 2020. In August 2023, he moved to Bergen. He started drawing early on, inspired by his father. His father died when Richard was only 7 years old. Art then became a place where he could still feel contact with his father - a place where he could process his grief and at the same time be an inspiration to the world around him. "Art reflects my thoughts and feelings and gives meaning to my existence and experiences", says Richard. "I want to be a mouthpiece for those who have experienced violence, but also spread joy and encourage young people to see the good in life". Today, Richard is studying Vg3 in Preparatory Studies at Årstad vgs, while at the same time he uses evenings, nights and other free time for artistic work.
